I was disappointed this week to see our environment and facilities committee meeting cancelled due to members late apologies - this has a real impact on our town with staff hours essentially wasted having put time into the important items on the agenda.
Although as town councillors we are unpaid volunteers, and it is understandable that holidays and illness mean we can’t attend but some members seem to be repeatedly failing to attend and I would ask that they consider if their continued absence is right for the town.
Lots of talk on dog fouling in our town this week with particular focus on Porth Beach. I am always amazed that some dog owners feel it is acceptable, it is unacceptable for our public health for this to be the case.
Most dog owners are responsible and clear up after their animal and it is the minority but this risks having a wider impact. Porth is dog free over the summer months which causes frustration, and I would suggest that those responsible for fouling on our beach stop to ensure that people do not call for year round bans which would have wide impact.
As a town council I am keen to see enforcement officers take a more prominent role and will be bringing this to our next meeting in February.
