A MAN has been airlifted to Derriford Hospital after sustaining serious injuries following a incident involving a crane in Penzance this morning (Thursday, February 13).

Emergency services were called to Penzance Dry Dock just before 10am. Police, fire and ambulance crews attended the scene, while an air ambulance was also present to take the patient to hospital.

Ross Bridge was closed while the emergency services tended to the man but has since been reopened.

The health and safety executive have been informed and an investigation is set to begin to establish the cause of the incident.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: “Police were called to Penzance Dry Dock shortly before 10am on Thursday, February 13, following a report of an incident involving a crane.

“One man has been airlifted to hospital with a serious injury. The health and safety executive have been informed.”
