MEMBERS of a Lions club charity in Newquay will be ‘roaring’ down the road in a new set of wheels following a donation.
Newquay Towan Blystra Lions Club have been given the keys to a van by the trustees of DISC Newquay.
They decided that the Lions could make good use of the vehicle in serving the community and helping other groups who support others following DISC closed its doors in January.
DISC had used the van for collections and deliveries of food and other resources.
Lion President Heather Stanley formally received the van from Peter Butterly, the chairman of the trustees of DISC at Newquay Harbour after the van had been rebranded with the Lions logos.
Heather said: “We were delighted to accept this offer of the van and we have already been using it to help with some of the requirements of Newquay Foodbank.
“If there are other community groups that feel we can be of any help using the van, our Lions will be happy to hear from them.”
Any charity or community group who would like to know more about how the Lions could help them can get in contact through the website www.newquaytowanblystralions.or.uk or by ringing 0345 833 4981.
