St Austell Leisure Centre is hosting a free MOT for bikes session from 9am to 1pm on Monday, July 29.
The event follows on from engagement days held in June and is part of the BEAT Project – Better Engagement in Active Travelling.
Mechanics from the Cornwall Bicycle Project will be available to look at bikes brought in and provide technical advice and guidance on what to keep an eye on – including wheels, tyres, brakes, gears, lights, racks, saddles and pedals.
Operating under the Better brand, GLL is a not-for-profit social enterprise that has partnered with the bicycle project team.
Karen Edmond, GLL community sport manager, said: “We are trying to encourage people over the summer months to get their bikes out and cycle more.
“You don’t have to be a serious cyclist to reap the benefits of being more active – short journeys and rides out with the family all help to improve both physical and mental health.”
