A most enjoyable afternoon was had by local Oddfellows members who attended the September ‘Friendship Month’ gathering in Truro with the group meeting in the upstairs function room of the Central Bar in Saint Mary’s Street.

The afternoon’s activities commenced with a short presentation by the local Oddfellow’s welfare representative outlining the support and help available to members who may find themselves in need. This ranges from dental, optical, convalescent and emergency financial grants, a bespoke ‘in house’ citizens advice phone line and legal service right through to practical assistance.

A prize quiz was then held with winners of the rounds receiving ‘lucky dip’ prizes wrapped in gift paper followed by a prize raffle which included items crafted by members and with proceeds being placed into a special charitable fund used to support local and other good causes.

Accompanied throughout by a good friendly chat, teas and coffees and a selection of chocolate biscuits, fruit and sweets, the increasingly popular quiz sheets as well as photographs of a recent gathering were handed out for members to take home.

Meeting for a variety of activities in Plymouth, Truro, Redruth and other locations, the Oddfellows always welcomes new members of all ages and genders.
