A FOOTBALL legend is set to make an appearance in Newquay to help raise funds for charity.

Premier League icon Matt le Tissier, who played for Southampton and England, will be giving a talk at the Oceanside in Headland Road on May 3 at 6.30pm to support of #WalkingIsBrilliant.

Former professional footballer Mark Crossley set up the mental health campaign to help promote better wellbeing.

Every person who buys a ticket to the evening with Matt Le Tissier will be entered into a free prize draw with the winner having the opportunity to take him on in a one-on-one challenge of their choice at the Cave Activity Bar in Central Square such as its simulator golf game.

Ryan Reynolds from Cornwall Media Group, which is helping to organise the event, said: “Matt will share captivating stories from his illustrious career at Southampton as well as media commitments after playing.

“Often seen as controversial with his views on Covid and other political goings on in the country and engage with fans during a lively question and answer session.

“This is a unique opportunity to connect with fellow football enthusiasts and enjoy a memorable night celebrating one of the sport’s most beloved figures.

“Plus, each ticket purchased enters them into a free draw to challenge Matt to any of the amazing activities at the Cave Activity Bar for a personal one-on-one experience

“We are proud to be teaming up with Mark “Big Norm” Crossley and from every show be donating to the walking is brilliant charity that was founded by a group of ex-professional footballers and their friends to try to raise awareness of mental health issues arising after retirement from sport and now support the wider mental health community and other charities.”
