An open morning is being held at St Austell Leisure Centre on Wednesday, January 18 for mums who want to keep active during and after pregnancy.
Working closely with Active Cornwall, the “Better Movers – Pre and Post Pregnancy” event is being run by GLL fitness staff who have attended a This Mum Moves awareness session, and who will be on hand to give advice and guidance, together with midwives, This Mum Moves ambassadors and other health professionals.
There will be free soft play for babies under 12 months and siblings who come along, plus free tea and coffee for the mums.
“It’s a great opportunity to make informed physical activity choices throughout pregnancy and beyond,” said Steve Latham, GLL’s St Austell Leisure Centre supervisor and senior fitness instructor.
“According to research by the Active Pregnancy Foundation, 75 per cent of new mums are missing out on the physical and mental well-being benefits of regular activity.
“It doesn’t matter how much or how little exercise people may have done before, the important thing is to do something safe and right for you.”
The open morning runs from 10am to 12pm.
St Austell Leisure Centre is run by not-for-profit social enterprise provider GLL on behalf of Cornwall Council.
