FESTIVE businesses helped decorate a Christmas tree in Newquay to help raise funds for a children’s charity.
The NSPCC Newquay District Group co-ordinated the 13th year of its Christmas Tree Appeal, which saw companies sponsor a bauble on its tree in the foyer of the Lighthouse Cinema.
Pat Harnett, the chairperson of the NSPCC Newquay District Group, said: “A heartfelt thanks to all the generous businesses in and around Newquay who have donated and helped raise the record-breaking amount.
“Last year our schools service reached 9,975 children in 59 schools, helping children to learn how to ‘Speak out and Stay safe.’
“ChildLine volunteers supported an estimate of 1,500 children in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.”
