A Newquay high street is staging its own festive celebration and Christmas street market.
A Miracle on Fore Street will be held on Sunday, December 22, from midday to 9pm.
It promises to be a spectacular day filled with community spirit, festive cheer, local treasures for last minute gifting, seasonal eats and treats, fresh produce for festive feasting, a bar of local tipples.
There will be a full programme of live music and loads of family friendly fun all while helping to raise some money for the Newquay Boardriders group to compete at the Usher Cup in Australia.
Rebecca Williams of Milk Cafe said: “Last year myself and Simon Thompson, from Fore Street Cafe, created this event to bring the community Christmas spirit to Fore Street.
“Our aim was to put Newquay on the map for places to visit at Christmas and celebrate the wonderful place that Fore Street is. It was a great success and this year
“Miracle on Fore Street is back bigger and better with support from our event partners. The more glitter and tinsel the better.”
There will be a kids disco at The Fort Inn, meet Santa and kids Christmas crafts at Belushi's, Newquay Rowing Club Singers popping up at Milk Cafe, a drop in festive printmaking workshop at Box & Barber, a flower demo at Coastal Flowers and storytelling at the Fore Street Café.
Alongside the market people will be able to enjoy local seasonal street food, a festive bar and in business menu specials while enjoying a full programme of live music featuring local favourites like The Clams, Joe Hurworth, Steve Panter, C Bird Singers and Soulful House Choir.
This year the Christmas Street Market is hosted by BIG Newquay Market co-organisers Cornwall Shop Small and Newquay Farmers Market with market infrastructure supplied by Newquay BID.
Newquay BID Manager Mark Warren said: 'It's a pleasure to be involved in this event for the second year and wonderful to see so many of the resident businesses hosting free activities as part of the event programme to really benefit from the footfall these sort of events can drive.
“Our future ambition is to create a calendar of events in several locations through the month of December creating more footfall into our amazing town and businesses’
Sarah Curley from Cornwall Shop Small said: “We’re using our collective power to put on an unmissable street market and one of your last chances to shop small and local this Christmas.
“Featuring an array of locally created and curated wares perfect for Christmas gifting.
“Expect colourful prints, locally made ceramics as well as seasonal fashion and accessories with sustainability at heart.”
Caroline Hinks of Newquay Farmers Market added: “It's a real pleasure to be involved in such a community focused event. You'll be able to stock up on fresh fish and shellfish, locally raised meat, seasonal veg, cheeses and more to bring the freshest festive food to your tables this Christmas.”
