AN annual celebration of Camborne’s most famous son returns on Saturday, April 26 when the town hosts Trevithick Day.
The event, which celebrated its 40th anniversary last year, is in honour of engineer Richard Trevithick, a pioneer who is credited with transforming mass transportation as well as helping to enhance the mining industry in Cornwall.
Throughout the day visitors will have the opportunity to get up close to an impressive entry of steam, stationary and miniature engines that will be on display and taking part in the parade.
The streets are sure to be a hive of activity as market and food stalls, accompanied by plenty of live music and dance, will transform Camborne as visitors take time to remember one of Cornwall’s most famous innovators.
The climax to the event will see members of the public line the streets to watch the steam parade leave Bassett Road at around 3.30pm.
