EMERGENCY services were alerted after a person got into difficulty in the sea at Porth Beach on Thursday morning (April 24).

Newquay Coastguard Search and Rescue Team attended the incident shortly before 12pm.

The casualty was out of the water when they arrived.

A Coastguard spokesperson said: “After locating and assessing the casualty, no further treatment was required and the team were stood down.”

Newquay Coastguard Rescue Team were tasked to investigate reports of flashing lights at Watergate Bay on Wednesday, April 23 at 10.20pm.

A Coastguard spokesperson said: “After arriving and conducting a search of the area combined with further enquiries this was put down to a false alarm with good intent.
