Electronic music titans Hot Chip, Leftfield and 808 State have spoken to the Voice Newspaper ahead of their heavyweight dance party on Saturday.

The dance music masters will be performing at Live At Scorrier House, a one-day dance music festival.

Synthpop outfit Hot Chip, known as the thinking person’s party band, mix the highest strobe-lit euphoria with the most reflective kind of headphones melancholy.

Alongside them will be one of the most influential and innovative dance music acts of all time Leftfield, plus a full live set from dance legends 808 State as well as a selection of other live acts and DJs throughout the day.

Owen Clarke from Hot Chip said: “We're super excited to play at Scorrier House and we're thrilled to be playing alongside the legends that are 808 State & Leftfield. It's our last UK date of the summer so it's going to be extra special.

“We’ve previously performed in Cornwall at the Eden Project in St. Austell back in 2016.

"That was a great experience. We also played at Boardmasters Festival in Newquay five years ago.

“Both two unique gigs for us.

“We'd love to stick around and soak up all the great things Cornwall has to offer after the gig but we'll be travelling back to London soon after our set for a few DJ gigs over the bank holiday weekend.”

Graham Massey from 808 State said: “We are excited to be performing at Scorrier House. It’s a great line up of electronic heavyweight groups.

“We were last in Newquay for the Run to the Sun festival in May. We had a great dayt as we have family in Wadebridge.

“That was a DJ set so would could fly from Manchester with just USB sticks. Scorrier House is a full band live setso we will be arriving in the van with loads of antique keyboards and drum kits coming from Manchester.

“The night before we are djing in Halifax supporting Orbital. So it will be tricky logistics on a Bank Holiday. We will nedd to set off at 6am and we need a week off at my age.

“We would love to stay on in Cornwall for a few days but we’ll have to get all the gear and crew home.

“We have many memories of gigs in Cornwall over the years including Surfers Against Sewage, which is even more of an issue these days than when we played it 20 something years ago.

“The Total Ecilpse Party in St Austell in 1999 was a memorable one.

"Our tour bus was like a creche at the time. My son Jackson is now on stage with the band.

"He did work experience at Rick Steins chip shop in Falmouth during the holidays as a teen.”

Neil Barnes from Leftfield said: “We very much are looking forward to Live at Scorrier House.

“We love 808 State and Hot Chip and we think it’s going to be a great night.

“We’ve been to Cornwall so many times over the years, for work and family holidays. It’s a very special place.

“We would love to spend some time in Cornwall after the gig but sadly our touring schedule means that we can't stick around for very long.”

Back for its second year after playing host to Groove Armada and Morcheeba last summer, Live at Scorrier House is organised by Newquay based Quick Panda Productions, which is also behind award-winning music festival, The Great Estate at Scorrier House.

A spokesperson for Quick Panda said: “Camping, glamping, camper vans, festival food and VIP silent disco after parties are all on the menu for this sun soaked all dayer. What better way to spend August Bank Holiday weekend than a day and night of fine tunes, food, drink and general merriment in the prestigious grounds of Scorrier Estate.

“Scorrier House is an exclusive country house set within four hundred acres of private parkland and historic gardens. Originally built in 1780 by the mining tycoon John Williams, Scorrier House embodies an important period of Cornish history.

“Home to the Williams family, Scorrier House is renowned for its garden, an evolving timepiece combining winding paths, wild meadows, maintained borders, flowering urns and radiant vistas.”
