If you thought the election was the most exciting thing to happen on Thursday, it had stiff competition from the opening of Cornwall’s first Krispy Kreme shop.

The queue stretched down Truro’s St Nicholas Street to see the ribbon being cut, meaning they no longer had to travel all the way to Portsmouth for the chain’s closest store.

The first customer in the queue received a grand prize of a dozen free doughnuts each month for a year.  

The store is open daily and serves its signature Original Glazed doughnuts as well as limited editions, plus coffee, shakes and soft drinks. Click & Collect is available for online bookings.
