DOG RAPIST

JACK TYLER, 23, formerly of Bodmin, now of Celyn Fedw, Carrog, Corwen has been sentenced to three years in prison by a judge at Truro Crown Court after he pleaded guilty to numerous sex offences which took place in Bodmin in 2020 and 2021 including raping a spaniel and Jack Russell – one of the dogs had to be put down. Over 3000 indecent images and videos of children being raped and abused, including new born babies, were found on his phone and computer including ones of him sexually abusing the dogs. Tyler was banned from keeping animals for a minimum of ten years, was put on the sex offenders’ register for life and has a ten-year order restricting his use of the internet.

SEX OFFENCES

WILLIAM LONG, 21, formerly of Poltair Court, St Austell who was found guilty of raping and sexually assaulting a woman in Par in June 2021 has been sentenced to three years in prison at Truro Crown Court.

ASSAULT

DEBORAH MASON, 59, of Trelawney Road, Newquay pleaded guilty to assaulting a police officer in Newquay in August 2023. She was fined £200 and ordered to pay £100 compensation, a £80 victim surcharge and £85 costs.

STEVEN CHANNON, 34, of The Copse, St Austell pleaded guilty to assaulting a man in St Austell on 26 January. He was given a community order and must abstain from alcohol until 17 June and do 80 hours unpaid work. He has to pay £135 costs.

REBECCA BOOTH, 32, of Melbourne Road, Liskeard pleaded guilty to assaulting a woman occasioning her actual bodily harm at Cardinham Woods in May 2023. Her case was adjourned until 27 March.

ETHAN WILDE, 22, of NFA, Liskeard who faced charges of strangling and assaulting a woman in Liskeard between June and November 2024 had the cases discharged at Truro Crown Court.

KIRAN WARNER, 23, of Belmont Park, Liskeard pleaded guilty to assaulting two men in Newquay on 3 November. His case was adjourned until 27 March.

STRANGULATION

JAKE MCDOUGAL, 35, of Gwel An Nans, Probus has been sent to Truro Crown Court after he pleaded guilty to breaching a restraining order made on conviction by contacting a woman at Hawke Close, Newquay on Valentine’s Day. He is also charged with strangling her. His case is listed for 25 March.

HARASSMENT

ANDREW PAULL, 47, of NFA, Par pleaded guilty to breaching a restraining order at Treffry Way, Par on 16 February by being in the company of a woman he was banned from seeing by Truro Crown Court in November 2022; to damaging a police car at Newquay Police Station and stealing £400 worth of alcohol from the Co-op in St Blazey the same day. He was given a 48-week custodial sentence because of his flagrant disregard for court orders, he had only just been released from prison and is a prolific thief. He has to pay £307 compensation.

RACIALLY AGGRAVATED

BRENDON SELF, 27, of Jago Close, Liskeard pleaded not guilty to charges of using racially aggravated threatening behaviour and assaulting a man at Liskeard on 10 June. The case was adjourned until 8 September.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

KAYA PARKER, 32, of The Cardinals Hatt, Saltash was made subject to a 28-day domestic violence notice on 14 February not to contact or threaten a man.

DRUG DEALER

ALAN DEAN, 59, of Stret Dor Wartha, Nansledan changed not guilty pleas to guilty at Truro Crown Court on charges of possessing 35.2 grams of diamorphine at Newquay in November 2021 with intent to supply and possessing 2.88 grams of cocaine. He was given a two-year prison sentence, suspended for two years, had £1120 cash seized as well as the drugs, phones and paraphernalia.

JACK ROWE, 21, of Old Roselyon Road, Par pleaded guilty at Truro Crown Court to possessing cocaine with intent to supply at St Austell in February 2024 and to possessing ketamine. He was given a two-year prison sentence suspended for two years and will have to do 200 hours unpaid work.

THEFT

MICHAEL GLANFIELD, 54, of Treffry Way, Par pleaded guilty to stealing jointly with Andrew Paull alcohol worth £400 from the Co-op in St Blazey on 16 February. He will be sentenced on 28 March.

DOG TO BE DESTROYED

JOSHUA HOOPER, 25, of Carvath House, Eastbourne Road, St Austell has been told that his XL Bully type dog called Storm will be destroyed unless an appeal is lodged within the next 21 days. Magistrates authorised Devon and Cornwall Police to appoint a vet to undertake the destruction of Storm once the 21-day appeal period was over and ordered the person who has custody of the dog to deliver it to the police for that purpose.

BREACH OF ORDERS

DARREN CHURCH, 50, of Boxwell Park, Bodmin admitted breaching a criminal behaviour order by entering Gilbert Road, Bodmin on 10 February and breaking his bail conditions by entering Bodmin town after 4pm on 18 February. He was committed to Truro Crown Court for sentence on 20 March, his bail was revoked and he was remanded in custody.

CAUSED DEATH BY CARELESS DRIVING

JASON SAUNDERS, 55, of Bulwark Close, Helston has attended Truro Crown Court charged with, on 1 June 2023 on Western Road, Launceston, causing the death of Philip Tyler by driving an Iveco Tipper without due care and attention. His case is listed for 21 March.

TOOK BIKE WITHOUT CONSENT

CLAUDIO AQUILINO, 56, of Sandy Lodge Hotel, Newquay pleaded guilty to taking an AC Hero 125 bike from St Ives without the consent of the owner on 2 February, to driving it without a licence or insurance and with 41 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath exceeding the limit of 35. He was given an interim driving ban and will be sentenced on 20 March.

RED LIGHT OFFENCE

WAYNE TAYLOR, 54, of Crown Terrace, Whitemoor, Nanpean pleaded not guilty to driving through a red light on Trezaise Road, Roche in October 2023. He will stand trial on 28 July.

DRINK DRIVE

ANDREW VICKERS, 37, of Socotra Drive, Trewoon pleaded not guilty to driving on Cromwell Road, St Austell on 14 December with 51 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath exceeding the limit of 35. His case was adjourned until 6 March.

LESLIE MUNDEN, 70, of Tremodrett Road, Roche pleaded not guilty to driving a Range Rover on Chapel Road, Roche on 16 January with 50 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath exceeding the limit of 35. His case was adjourned until 16 July.
