ST COLUMB Major Town Council has threatened to close public toilets if vandalism continues.

Toilet roll holders have been broken off the wall, toilet paper thrown everywhere and taps left running at the Recreation Ground lavatories in recent days.

Police are investigating the incidents.

A spokesperson for the town council said: “Sadly, there have two acts of vandalism involving the public toilets at the Recreation Ground in recent days.

“The police are investigating via CCTV, and they hope to recognise the culprits.

“The town council has no wish to close these facilities however, if these mindless acts of vandalism continue there will be no choice but to close them permanently.

“Police are aware that its young people doing this.

“Please educate your children on the perils of vandalising public services that costs us all money to maintain and repair.”
