Dog owners in Cornwall are invited to participate in a virtual dog walking challenge during May to support a Cornish child bereavement charity.
Penhaligon's Friends, an organisation that offers specialised support to over 1000 bereaved children and their families throughout Cornwall annually, is inviting dog owners and their canine companions to participate in its inaugural dog walking event.
Participants are encouraged to register and walk at least 30 kilometres during May. This distance is especially significant as the charity celebrates its 30th anniversary this year.
It’s simple to sign up for the challenge online with a £10 donation, which creates a personal donation page to garner support from friends and family. The charity will send a special Pooch Pack to those who register, including a Penhaligon's Friends dog bandana, and treats for dogs and humans.

The challenge is sponsored by Penmellyn Veterinary Group, which operates six practices across Cornwall. Clinical director Gina Togneri said: “We were delighted on many levels to have the opportunity to support Penhaligon's Friends, which is incredible in terms of both its work with young people and the support it provides bereaved families.
“We have first-hand experience of its amazing work through the assistance provided to our staff and their families during difficult times. We are also very aware of the positive impact our pets have in supporting us through such tough times. Our support of the dog walking challenge gives us a great opportunity to be involved with this fantastic cause.”
Penhaligon’s Friends business manager Jo Wollard added: “We are so grateful for Penmellyn Veterinary Group's support. They have also donated a doggy hamper as a prize for a draw for all participants who raise over £100 during the event.
"Join our 30km dog walking challenge this May, and combine fresh air and exercise with your dog, and supporting bereaved children and their families in Cornwall."
