A FUTURE of flight festival, where girls can explore the possibilities of a career in aviation and aerospace, took place on Saturday at RNAS Culdrose.
Reach for the Sky, hosted by community interest company TECgirls, was held in a real-life aircraft hangar brimming with exploration and adventure. The festival is the first and only space and aviation festival for girls hosted in Cornwall.
Created for girls aged seven to 14, the festival provided a chance to discover all the exciting areas within aviation and aerospace, with a focus on opportunities in the South West.
The sold-out event aimed to inspire girls towards their future careers with real pilots, engineers, and other professionals working in space and aviation on hand to chat with visitors throughout the festival. Children could get creative at practical workshops, be mesmerised by live science shows and see real-life jets and helicopters up close.
With talks all through the day and stands from nationwide aviation companies, guests had the chance to hear their amazing tales of adventure and innovation, kick-starting their own journey into these exciting sectors. Although the festival was aimed at girls seven to 14, children of all ages were welcomed with open arms to the event.
