A best beard and moustache competition is being held at The Bearded Brewery at St Mawgan on Saturday, June 29.
The event is one of a series of small 'Road To The Brits' competitions being held across Devon and Cornwall this year. They are designed to spread the word and allow competitors to practice for The 'Honest Amish' British Beard & Moustache Championships, which takes place in Plymouth on Saturday, October 12.
The categories for Road To The Brits competitions are big beard, short beard, partial beard, moustache, freestyle beard or moustache, and handmade beard or moustache, which children are also welcome to enter.
The Road To The Brits events, and The 'Honest Amish' British Beard & Moustache Championships will be fundraising for the Devon Air Ambulance and the Cornwall Air Ambulance.
Clair Wellsbury-Nye, one of the organisers, said: “If you've never heard of a beard and moustache competition before here's your chance to find out what they're all about.
“And, if you've wanted to enter one but were unsure about standing up in front of a crowd and talking into a microphone - here's your chance to try it in front of a small friendly crowd.
"To be honest it's always a friendly crowd, no matter the size of the event.
"It's a really welcoming community, where we promote charity fundraising, mental health, making friends, and promoting positive male role models."
“It's not just 'biggest beard wins', there's different categories for various sizes and styles of beards and moustaches.”
Mike Wellsbury-Nye, who also helps to organise the event, added: "You don't have to attend one of these Road To The Brits event before you can compete at The British Championships.
"There's nothing formal like qualifiers or heats, it's all just a bit of fun and an excuse to get together and raise some money for the charity pot."
“So if you fancy a fun afternoon out, raising money for good causes, get yourself to The Bearded Brewery in St Mawgan.
“The team will be there from 1pm, competitors registration is from 2pm, and judging starts at 3pm. Winners will be announced by 6pm, followed by live music from 7pm. There are no advance tickets, just turn up and make a donation in the charity pot as your entry fee.
“If you can't make it to The Bearded Brewery the team will be holding other Road To The Brits events across Devon and Cornwall this year.”
