A charitable Quintrell Downs woman is organising her annual effort to ensure children in war torn countries receive a Christmas present.
Carole Luscombe is appealing to residents to fill a shoebox full of gifts as part of the Operation Christmas Child initiative.
Special items could include a cuddly toy, a deflated football and pump, a toy truck, a doll and musical instruments. Children also need hats, scarves and gloves to keep them warm.
Shoeboxes can be taken to Quintrell Downs Spar Shop or Newquay News in Chester Road.
Carole said: “This year’s Shoe Box Appeal is bringing hope to children of many nations who have and still are suffering because of war, natural disaster, poverty, illness or neglect in many countries.
“Operation Christmas Child is a unique project of Samaritan’s Purse, delivers gifts to hurting children while also telling them of God’s love.
“To help light up a child’s face this Christmas here is what you can do.
“Find an empty shoe box approximately 12” long x 5” high x 7” wide. This takes a medium adult size shoe.
“Cover the box in Christmas paper making sure you wrap the lid separately.
“Decide whether your gift will be for a boy or a girl and the age category two to four, five to nine or 10 to 14. Stick a label on the outside of the lid stating boy or girl and the age your box is intended for.”
For more information pick up a leaflet from either Quintrell Downs Spar Shop or Newquay News in Chester Road. The deadline for boxes is November 18, 2024.
