ST AUSTELL Old Cornwall Society is holding the first meeting of its new season on Monday, September 9, at 7.30pm.

The meeting will be held at the White River Community Church on Trinity Street and the speaker will be David Oates who will talk about “The Real Poldark”.

A spokesperson for the society said: “Everyone who has any interest in the history, heritage and customs of Cornwall is welcome to attend.

“Every month we have a guest speaker. December sees our Christmas celebration and in June, July and August we have outings to interesting places in Cornwall.”
