Entertainment, festive outfits, beautiful lanterns, crowds of people, lights and a wonderful tree – Camborne’s annual Christmas lights switch on proved another big hit.

Organised by BID Camborne and funded by local businesses, there were plenty of smiles and excitement as Saffy from Pirate FM’s Breakfast Show began the countdown to light up Camborne.

Festivities started on the main stage with the Jumping Out jazz duo.

They were followed by Camborne Town Band, young people’s dance troupe the TR14ers, Holman Climax Male Voice Choir and the Bryher Boys shanty group.

The annual Children’s Lantern Parade went from St Meriadoc Infant School to Commercial Square, local shops showed off their Cornish Christmas displays and stilt walkers, elves and living statues provided plenty to marvel at throughout the town.

Anna Pascoe, BID Camborne Manager said: “A lot of effort goes into the many preparations needed and I’d like to say a big thank you to everyone involved.

 “We’re a close community and Christmas is a great opportunity for us to get together and celebrate.

The town centre is looking wonderful and seeing so many smiles and merriment makes all the effort worthwhile.”

To mark Small Business Saturday, December 2, Camborne loyalty card holders will get double stamps.

There will also be free car parking in Rosewarne Car Park.
