Truro and Penwith College and University Centre dedicated its 17th annual exhibition of final exam work to its retiring art and design team leader, Mark Dunford.

Making Your Mark featured work by inspiring artists, from fine art to fashion and textiles, graphic design to ceramics and jewellery designs.

A successful professional artist with work exhibited around the world, Mark had this advice for his young proteges: “Have courage and believe in what you are doing.”

During a private view attended by more than 900 guests, the prize winners gathered on stage to collect their awards from Truro College alumna Alice Ellis Bray. A professional multi-media artist from Lamorna who works with costume, painting, performance and script, and has exhibited at Tate Modern and Tate St Ives.

A networking session followed, with with some students selling and commissioning work following the show.

The exhibition was hailed “stunning as ever” by Truro Arts Society.

Award winners included Immy Taylor, who is progressing to study BA (Hons) Interior Design at Falmouth University; Phoebe Holt-Woollard, who is in her first year studying the International Baccalaureate at Truro and Penwith College; and Alanna Lancaster, who is studying Foundation Art at the college.
