A BEDBOUND person was rescued from a house on fire in Cornwall before firefighters arrived.

Crews from three fire stations responded to a 999 call reporting the blaze in a property with the bedbound person inside.

Teams from the St Austell, St Dennis and Newquay stations went to the fire at Woodland View in the village of Coombe near St Austell on the evening of Saturday, February 1.

The county’s fire control centre received the 999 call at just after 6pm.

On arrival at the property, the fire crews discovered the bedbound female had already been rescued.

Four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus extinguished a well-developed kitchen fire at just before 6.45pm. The crews left the rescued person in the care of their family.
