THE St Austell Foodbank has received a donation of £650 thanks to carol singers.
Cornwall councillor Michael Bunney presented the money to the foodbank which is based at the Light and Life Centre at Brunel Business Park in the town.
Cllr Bunney, who represents St Mewan, Grampound, St Ewe and the Pentewan Valley, said: “We raised the money through a carol evening at Cakebreads in Gorran Haven just before Christmas.
“The community enjoyed singing carols and a raffle was held in aid of the foodbank. We also raised a further £100 for the Truro Foodbank.
“Thank you to everyone who donated and especially the Cakebreads crew for hosting us. Many local families are struggling this winter and our community wanted to help.”
