Cornish deli restaurant group Sabzi has celebrated five years of trading by expanding its original Truro premises.

The larger retail and dining space in Walsingham Place will allow more guests to eat inside, and enable a larger range of lifestyle and edible products to be displayed.

Owner Kate Attlee has also launched an online store selling popular Sabzi products and gift hampers.

Born in Cornwall and raised by an Iranian father and British mother, Kate spent several years in London gaining valuable training and experience in the hospitality industry at Michelin star level, before returning to Cornwall to marry and start a family.

Leaning heavily into her Middle Eastern heritage, she began showcasing Persian cuisine to invited guests via an intimate and informal supper club at her Truro home, before wowing Masterchef judges in 2018, making the quarter-finals.

Buoyed by her success, she launched her first store in Cornwall’s city in 2019, followed by three further delis in Falmouth, Padstow and Nansledan.

“We’re frequently asked if we’re able to send our products as gifts, or to those who can’t pop into one of our delis easily,” said Kate. “I’m therefore excited to have the opportunity for Sabzi to reach more kitchens via an online shop.”

Products for sale through the website include spice mixes, granola and biscotti, developed by the team and produced by hand in small batches in the Falmouth Sabzi kitchen.

Kate has also collaborated with Wadebridge artisan roastery Rising Ground on a responsibly sourced bespoke coffee blend, named Duke Street after Sabzi’s Padstow location.
