TRURO’S Christmas Market on Lemon Quay will be closed tomorrow (Saturday, December 7) in anticipation of adverse weather conditions.
The city centre was gearing up for a busy day of Christmas shopping, with free parking in Cornwall Council car parks.
But plans were scuppered by a Met Office amber weather warning, which will be in place from 3am to 9pm tomorrow.
In a joint statement, representatives from Truro City Council and Cornwall Event Cabins said: “As Storm Darragh is expected to cause significant wind gusts of up to 80mph this weekend, the unfortunate decision has been made to close.
“This difficult decision was not made lightly; however, the safety of the public and the traders must always be the city council's and Cornwall Event Cabins' priority.”
