The Cornwall 500 gala dinner was held at the Alverton Hotel, Truro on Thursday evening.

A sold-out audience gathered to hear Steven Webb reminisce about his challenge to travel round Cornwall in his electric wheelchair last September. To date he has raised £41,000 for Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust’s #heli2 appeal.

The evening raised a further £5,000 through ticket sales, raffle and an auction with prizes donated by the Hall For Cornwall, pet portrait artist Mo Bailey, chef Paul Ainsworth and the Cornwall Hotel Collection.

“The support just blew me away,” said Steven. “What an incredible night.”

Cornwall Air Ambulance chief executive Tim Bunting added: “Steven has shown what’s possible when passion and purpose come together. On behalf of the people whose lives you have saved: thank you.”
