SEASONAL celebrations began in earnest when Truro switched on its Christmas Lights last Friday. Johnny Cowling and Lucy Start hosted Festive Friday and presided over the push of the button that illuminated the city centre. On Lemon Quay, Truro Christmas Market launched and is open daily until Christmas Eve.
Truro Business Improvement District (BID) manager Alun Jones said: “We were delighted with the Festive Friday turnout. It was great to see so many people out enjoying themselves, and we were thankful to have good weather.”
Alun thanked all who took part in the event, and BID members for funding it. “We urge everyone to continue to support the local businesses in person this Christmas by shopping, eating and drinking in the city, as well as utilising Truro’s other resident businesses.”
The Father Christmas Parade takes place on Wednesday, starting at 6.30pm from Boscawen Street, and coinciding with the first of Truro’s four Wednesday late-night shopping evenings.
