The inaugural St Piran’s Revenge hosted by Perran Trail Runners took place on Sunday.
First home for Newquay and first woman overall was off-road queen Mel King in a fantastic time of 54:23 minutes, followed by off-road enthusiast Phil Henwood in 1:10:00.
Young at heart NRR stalwart, Des Evans finished first in age group in time of 1:27:31.
The course followed a challenging 10km multi-terrain route that started and finished on Perranporth beach. It included speedy coast path sections, steep dune ascents and even St Piran’s six century oratory along the way.
There were three Newquay Road Runners in attendance for this event which attracted a capacity 110 competitors.
NRR Des Evans said: “Previous NRR members Toby Lowe and Nigel Swift were the race directors, they didn’t let themselves down, it was a well organised 10k with great helpers and marshals, with plenty of hills, sand dunes and ice patches.”
