With Christmas only a week away it’s a busy time of year for all of us with grand expectations abound, let’s not forget this time of year is primarily, at least in my mind about community, friends and family.
Last Sunday evening my family and I attended the inaugural Christmas Celebration event at St Michael’s church. This event was a true celebration of community and togetherness with lots of music, readings and a heavy sprinkling of fun.
We had Oll an Gwella, Newquay singers and Newquay Band performing for the gathered crowd with many sing a long classics for Christmas.
I have to say my stand out performance was by the group from Newquays Treviglas School who sang several songs including a personal favourite of mine, Feliz Navidad.
There was also a solo grand piano performance by a young lady from Treviglas of ‘Walking in the Air’ which was truly breathtaking followed by a solo of silent night by another student, wow what amazing talent Treviglas have I would highly recommended if you get the opportunity to go see them when they next perform.
Well done to Canon Jane and Rachel Craze for organising such a unifying community celebration, I for one can’t wait for next years. This weekend there are several free events on the St Michael’s Church by Newquay Band and Newquay Singers. Check out the socials of the church for more info.
It was a pleasure last week to attend the first ever gig of local band Bronn Wennili front by our very own Green Cllr Marco Motta, at Project 83. Many of my fellow town councillors were in attendance and it was a brilliant night, my first time at Project 83 but by no means my last, great venue.
Harbour View
After a mild start to the week, colder from tomorrow with NW winds. An old mooring ring uncovered near the tunnel on harbour beach over the weekend, I’ve never seen it before. Tomorrow night (Thursday) is the Carol Crawl from Red Lion, 7pm, Saturday afternoon is at Harbour Mission, 4 pm, Sunday is at Milk cafe at 4.30pm for the Miracle event.
