EMERGENCY services were scrambled following reports a person had become cut off by the tide at Whipsiderry Beach.
Newquay Coastguard Rescue Team attended the incident on Monday, December 30, at 2.20pm but no one was located. The call was logged as a “well-intended” false alarm.
A spokesperson from the coastguard said: “We were tasked to the Whipsiderry area after a report came in via 999 of a casualty cut off by the incoming tide.
“After arriving on scene and conducting a search no one was located. This call was put down to a well-intended false alarm.
“If you see someone in difficulty along the coast, dial 999 and ask for the coastguard. Stay safe.”
