TORPOINT Athletic are through to the second round of the Cornwall Senior Cup after this comprehensive victory at Priory Park on Tuesday evening, with Gary Hird and Luke Cloke both bagging a brace each.

The match was only two minutes old when the visitors took the lead when a quick break saw Gary Hird pass the ball across to Fred Chapman who fired home at the far post for his first goal for Torpoint.

The Point doubled their lead on 26 minutes when Sam Morgan put through Hird to blast home from 12 yards.

Four minutes later, Bodmin’s Sonny Dover was denied by 18 yards by Tyler Coombes, and the visitors extended their lead on 42 minutes when Hird finished from 15 yards out.

It was 4-0 five minutes into the second half when Hird dummied Jed Smale’s cross and Cloke was on hand to do the rest.

Just before the hour mark, the visitors had a free-kick on the edge of the area, which Elliott Crawford curled home around the wall for number five.

Then with five minutes remaining, Torpoint’s Jaiden Miller saw his cross into the area find Cloke who headed home from close range to complete the scoring.
