Newquay Road Runners announced this week that the Newquay 10k is back and the road race takes place on Sunday February 5.
The event is one of the most popular road races in the South West with in the region of 950 competitors taking part.
A number of these athletes are running for charity and the course is well marshalled, primarily by volunteers.
The race starts in close proximity to the Newquay Sports Centre at 9am and takes runners along Edgcumbe Avenue where they cross the Trenance Roundabout and turn left at the Mellanvrane Roundabout onto Trevemper Road. Then on to the Trevemper Roundabout where runners make their way to Crantock until they turn right at the Trevella Caravan Park T-junction to make their way back for the final three miles to the Sports Centre.
Regrettably there will be traffic delays, in particular at the three roundabouts referred to and at the Trevella T-junction.
A spokesman for Newquay Road Runners said: “We apologise for any inconvenience and ask drivers to be patient.”
Newquay RR members were treated to an evening of glitz and glamour for their annual dinner and dance at the Hotel Kilbirnie.
The evening, largely organised by the club’s social secretary John Beard, paid tribute to a number of NRR members who were recognised for their achievements over the past year.
