Cape Cornwall’s Trembath, in his first season in the top league, produced a remarkable run by seeing off Cornwall’s Paul Jenkin and Kelly Plumb before edging a final set thriller 13-11 against another county player, Dave Plumb.

The final saw Clack win the final in four sets, although he was made to work extremely hard (12-10, 13-11, 7-11, 11-9).

Prior to that he had beaten Andrew Nicholson, Ritchie Bartlett and Ashley Taylor, dropping just one set in the process.

The Premier Division doubles went the way of the husband and wife duo of Dave and Kelly Plumb as they saw off Tom Clack and Paul Jenkin in straight sets (11-3, 11-8, 11-9).

Both teams had to go to the well in the semi-finals with the Plumbs edging past Mounts Bay duo Mark Cock and John Holman (11-7, 13-11, 7-11, 11-13, 11-5) while Steve Lobb and Keith Swain were seen off in an even closer contest (11-8, 6-11, 3-11, 11-7, 11-9).

The Creekside player enjoyed comfortable victories over Jamie Staniland and Peter Linton to set up a showdown with Godolphin player/coach Rick Gonzalez.

Gonzalez had beaten Joe Wood in a decider in the last four, but couldn’t repeat his heroics in the final as Cortis took a close contest 10-12, 11-9, 12-10, 6-11, 11-6.

Gonzalez’s team mates – brothers Tyrone and Jamie Staniland took the doubles crown as they saw off a comeback from Cortis and John Tuffery to take the title 11-8, 11-7, 9-11, 8-11, 11-6.
