THERE was drama aplenty both on and off the pitch in the South West Peninsula League Premier West in midweek.
Dobwalls kept up their 100% winning start with a 4-0 success over South East Cornwall rivals Millbrook at Lantoom Park in Tuesday night’s only fixture.
The opening 65 minutes were pretty even with teenage goalkeeper Tom Burstow impressing on his Brook debut, but three wonder goals in seven minutes ensured the points stayed with the hosts.
Kai Burrell, who had only been on the pitch for a minute, put the hosts in front with a volley before fellow sub CJ Pritchard doubled the advantage just two minutes later.
Charlie Castlehouse then made it 3-0 with a strike from outside of the area that flew past a helpless Burstow.
Burrell rounded off the scoring after 84 minutes to give the scoreline a far more emphatic look than the visitors deserved.
Truro City Reserves were due to welcome St Day to the club’s new ground at Langarth, but a problem with one of the floodlights meant it was postponed.
On the same evening, Penzance picked up a superb away victory at Wendron United who had previously earned three victories from as many games.
The Magpies were looking to bounce back from a 4-3 defeat to title hopefuls Liskeard Athletic, and despite trailing to a first half goal from Ryan Reeve after he stroked in Brodie Kemp’s cross, Mark Vercesi’s men produced an epic late surge.
Kam Collins knocked on a free-kick which was put in by Silas Sullivan for his third of the season, before they grabbed a winner with four minutes to go as Charlie Willis fired in Archie Reynolds’ cut back.
The other game saw Callington Town win 1-0 at in-form Holsworthy.
Both sides had chances in an open contest, but Kieran Ryall’s 68th minute strike was enough.
