SWPL PREMIER WEST (TUESDAY)

Sticker 2 Penzance 2

STICKER moved off the bottom of the table as they earned a 2-2 draw with mid-table Penzance at Burngullow Park.

However by the end it was arguably the Magpies that were happiest as Charlie Young’s late equaliser – his first for the club – gave them a valuable point.

Both teams had their moments in the first half.

Home keeper Ethan Elwell saved from Young before Darryl Richards was also denied by the home stopper.

At the other end, Connor Wharton’s header was ruled out for offside and the same man hit the side-netting when well placed.

But on 53 minutes the visitors took the lead through Silas Sullivan.

By the hour it was all square as Mickey Rowles-Jane glanced in a header, before Sticker went in front through skipper Tom Guest after the striker bounced off some challenges and beat Will Trenoweth.

But late on it was 2-2 as Young slotted a finish through a number of legs, and he even had chance for the winner, but he headed just over.

Wendron United 1 St Day 3 (Wednesday)

THE Yellows built on their victory over Holsworthy at the weekend as they shocked high-flying Wendron at Underlane.

The Dron raced out of the blocks and had chances before Ryan Reeve was denied by Harry Salmon on 13 minutes.

But within two minutes it was 1-0 as Reeve made no mistake.

Wendron piled on the pressure but couldn’t get a second, and after the restart St Day were rejuvenated.

Kyle Marks levelled from the penalty spot, and on 67 minutes the Yellows were in front when a poor clearance found Ollie Tomlinson on the left and he beat Zach Telling from 25 yards.

Marks set Taylor Packenas away for the third in injury-time as St Day earned a third win of the season.
