March is going to be a big, and busy, month for St Blazey in their quest to win the South West Peninsula League premier west title.
The Green & Blacks, who have nine games left, are facing seven of those this month as they bid to overtake leaders Wendron United, who are 10 points ahead but have played six games more.
The March madness starts tonight when Blazey travel to Callington Town and continues with home games against Newquay next Wednesday and Launceston on Saturday March 11.
There are then three away games at Newquay, St Dennis and fellow title hopefuls Liskeard before the month ends with the visit of Sticker to Blaise Park.
That will leave Phil Lafferty’s side to play local rivals St Austell on Good Friday, April 7, and Wendron at Blaise Park on Saturday April 22.
Lafferty said: “We have a fit, strong, focussed squad of 19 players who all know we will face nine more tough challenges this season.
“They have been told that the squad will need to be utilised as we have seven games in March followed by two in April. But one game at a time will be the key message to the lads as we look to finish as strongly as we possibly can.”
Wendron have only four games left, two in March and two in April.
Wadebridge Town will feel they can overtake Wendron too, seven points behind them with a game in hand, while fourth-placed Liskeard, 15 points behind the leaders but with five games in hand, also retain an outside chance of winning the title.
