INNER WARRIOR LEAGUE

Falmouth Ladies 29 St Austell Ladies 5

IN EXTREMELY tough conditions, St Austell Ladies RFC – known as the Valkyries – took to the pitch in their opener for the Inner Warrior League against the Eagles of Falmouth on their home ground.

The final score may have been 29-5 to the hosts, but the scoreboard does not reflect the determination and grit of these women!

Playing three 20-minute halves, the Valkyries took the lead with a Maddy Connop try, and kept the scores tied at 5-5 until the final third when Falmouth found their footing and made lines that the Saints just weren’t prepared for, but all adds to the experience of these ladies.

Head Coach Beth Grant said: "I’m phenomenally proud of these individuals today and we really hit our mark of one team, one dream coming together and playing a sport that we adore! I’m super proud of you all!

“Thank you Falmouth for a great display of hosting and being such fun opponents for our first match.”

The Valkyries’ star player was Wenna Parsons who was not shy to get into every situation with one moment needing five girls to bring her down.
