NATIONAL LEAGUE TWO WEST (SATURDAY)
Cinderford 43 Camborne 24
CAMBORNE’S lead at the top of National Two West is down to six points after a second away defeat of the season at fourth-placed Cinderford.
In this hastily rearranged clash, The Cherry and Whites, who were far from full strength, fell 17-0 down inside the first quarter but soon hit back when a period of pressure ended with a try for winger Alex Ducker. Kyle Moyle’s conversion hit the post.
But despite prop Jack Andrew showing great strength to force his way over under the posts which was added to by Moyle, a try either side of that meant the hosts had a 31-12 lead at the break.
It was all but game over when Camborne conceded soon after the restart, losing two players to the sin-bin for technical offences in the process.
Cinderford quickly capitalised on their numerical advantage and their seventh try on 44 minutes left the Cherry and Whites with a mountain to climb at 43-12.
Thereafter it was to be ‘Town’ who took the game to the home side for the remainder of the half.
Ducker had a try chalked off from a crossfield chip by Moyle before a home defender slapped the ball away as he went for his kick through.
Camborne got some late reward and a crucial bonus point thanks to tries from Moyle and Josh Matavesi, but attention quickly turns to a huge top of the table clash with third-placed Clifton at the Recreation Ground on Saturday (2pm).
