COUNTIES THREE CORNWALL
Camborne Crusaders 41 Launceston Castles 10
CAMBORNE Seconds clinched the Counties Three title on Saturday by sweeping to victory in the top of the table clash against Launceston at the Recreation Ground.
In front of a crowd of more than 300, the Cherry and Whites lead 17-3 at half-time before pulling well clear in the third quarter playing down the slope.
First half tries for the home side came from Liam Bennett, Ben Smith and centre Ted Kullich with Jowan Wilding adding a conversion. Dan Pearce replied with a penalty for the visitors.
After the break hooker Bennett, flanker Smith, full-back Wilding and centre Jack Davis all crossed for touchdowns with Wilding landing a brace of conversions.
Launceston never gave up and ended the game with a consolation try from James Redwood which was converted by full-back Pearce.
Camborne now take over Veor’s fixtures in Counties Two Cornwall due to the villagers dropping down to rebuild.
However all matches involving Camborne will be played as friendlies.
For Launceston, they get a second bite of the cherry as they will battle it out in a mini league with the winners joining the Crusaders in the division above next season.
