NATIONAL LEAGUE TWO WEST (SATURDAY)
Camborne 40 Old Redcliffians 12
CAMBORNE continue to top the National Two West table following a comprehensive victory over Old Redcliffians at a windswept Recreation Ground.
The home side, who were given first use of the sloe and elements opened the scoring on eight minutes when debutant winger Billy Wara powered over to score which Kyle Moyle converted.
‘Town’ were then kept at bay until a purple patch yielded three converted scores in ten minutes.
On the half-hour a well-timed pass from Sam Walker saw flanker Jordan Nicholls burst clean through the defence to dot down under the posts. Moyle added the regulation conversion.
Soon after, pressure at a close-range scrum saw excellent scrum-half CJ Boyce pounce on the loose ball to make ground before releasing man-of-the-match Nicholls for a corner try. Moyle added a fine kick from the touchline.
As the interval neared Camborne attacked in the scoreboard corner with Moyle feeding Harry Larkins who squeezed over. Again Moyle struck an excellent conversion (28-0).
Camborne worked hard after the break to prevent the visitors gaining any real possession or territory.
Decisively midway through the half the home forwards pressured the Old Reds pack at four successive five-metre scrums before No.8 Aden Brassington picked up and crashed over. Walker added the extras.
The Cherry and Whites then added further gloss to their performance when Larkins got his second.
Late on the spirited visitors were rewarded with a brace of tries, but Camborne had five points.
