THE 14th and final race of the 2024/25 Cornish Grand Prix Race Series – the Cornish Marathon – was held on Sunday, November 3.
The course is known for it’s tough undulating hills which sees runners start and finish at Millenium House in Pensilva.
Runners also take in Draynes Valley, through the ‘Poldark’ country of Bodmin Moor, King Arthur’s legendary Dozmary Pool, Du Maurier’s Jamaica Inn at Bolventor and back along the Fowey Valley.
Just as runners contemplate the finish line they have to endure a climb to Foredown between miles 24 and 25, which most competitors will remember for a long time, and not just for the fabulous views!
Truro Running Club’s Steve Reynolds was the winner in a rapid time of 2:42:59, a massive 13 minutes clear of second-placed David Robinson from City of Plymouth AC.
St Austell Running Club’s Bradley Parsons made up the top three in 2:57:23, one minute and 19 seconds behind Robinson.
