PORTHPEAN’S Seniors held their Monthly Medal on Tuesday, May 7 with a field of 50 headed by Mike Partridge with a nett 65, threestrokes ahead of Division One winner Peter Setchell, who also carded the lowest gross score of 76.
Second place on countback went to Derek Williams, a stroke ahead of Dave Parsall and Vince Dymock in third and fourthon countback.
Division Two winner, and second overall Ray Nancholas, scored a nett 66, three ahead of Aaron Wellington in second andfour clear of Bob Wilde in third. Just two twos were recorded.
The ladies held a Stableford competition on Wednesday, May 8 with a ‘Waltz’ format.
The trio of Carol Fitzhenry, Jackie Oliver and Jenny Bottom amassed 69 points to win from Roma Cook, Bev Sullivan and Julie Bradbury in second place.
It was also a Stableford with a twist for the men on Wednesday, this time a ‘Baker's Dozen’, with the worst five scores being discarded.
Derek Williams and Peter Fox were both left with 32 points with Williams getting the edge on countback.
Two points back, five players were also separated by countback with Dave Parsall grabbing third and Karl Rance fourth.
Steve Arthur could only manage fifth but carded the only two of the day as compensation.
The Sunday Stableford was won by John Sweet with 39 points, three ahead of Division One winner Lee Varney.
A point back in second place, James Vague was a point clear of Keith Grigg in third.
Division Two winner and second overall Andrew Yates scored 36 points to win by two from Peter Taylor with Vince Averill a further point backin third. Paul Farquhar recorded the only two of the day.
