FIFTY-THREE runners from Hayle were some of nearly 400 who completed the Indian Queens Half Marathon on Sunday, August 4.
It was another hot day for this particular race, which sees participants embarking from Indian Queens to take on a mix of road and several miles of trails through Goss Moor, before returning to the village for the finish.
The Hayle men did extremely well, managing to take both first and second place in the team standings.
The winners comprised of Jacob Gardner, Adam Gore, Liam O’Neill, Edmund Bennett, Steven Hagan, and Neil Hayhurst; while Bradley Medlock, Curtis Hayes, Peter Barnes, Ian Curnow, Clem Mitchell, and Scott Abraham made up the second place team.
The women’s team also put in a very strong performance taking third place overall.
That team featured Debbie Harrison-Webb, Lucy Paull, Kirsty Medlock, Fiona Gamble, Anna Goodman, and Andrea Simmons.
Brilliant performances also saw several individuals come away with age category prizes. Those runners were: Lucy Paull (Women 40-44) – first; Kirsty Medlock (Women 40-44) – second; Debbie Harrison-Webb (Women 50-54) – third; Diane Warren (Women 65-69) – first; Andrea Simmons (Women 70-74) – first; Steven Hagan (Men 40-44) – third; Edmund Bennett (Men 45-49) – second; Ian Curnow (Men 50-54) – third; Chunky Penhaul (Men 75-79) – first.
