The Sunday Strokeplay on January 19 was won overall by Grant Rockall, four strokes clear of four players on nett 72, led by Division One winner Nathan Fitzpatrick from Gary Sullivan, Paul Farquhar and John Sweet in second, third and fourth.
Ben Bond in seventh place carded the best gross score of 73.
Division Two winner and second overall, Gary Simmons had a nett 68 on countback from Ray Nancholas in second place. Tony Shufflebotham was two strokes back in third and there were three two's recorded.
It was Winter League time for the seniors on Tuesday, January 21 with Gary Sullivan beating Michael Meares to top spot on countback scoring 27 points over 14 holes.
Another pair battling it out for third and fourth were Peter Talling and Ron May on 26 points, a point ahead of three players on countback for fifth, sixth and seventh, Mark Clemes, Dave Parsall and Steve Arthur.
A further point back on 24, Steve Sloggett, Aaron Wellington and Lionel Johns filled the remaining places earning league points. Four players shared the twos pot.
The men's Winter League a day later was in a strokeplay format and was won by Mike Partridge with best gross and net figures of 73 and 63, a full five strokes clear of Michael Rooney in second place. A stroke back on 69 Gary Sullivan, Peter Fox and Ray Nancholas were tied on countback in third, fourth and fifth. Steve Arthur picked up the remaining league point in sixth with a nett 70. Just two twos were recorded.
The ladies also graced the course on the same day, playing a scramble over the front nine holes. Bev Sullivan and Carol Fitzhenry scored a nett 37 to win on countback from the trio comprising Teresa Phillips, Gill Pipe and Jenny Botto.

ALTHOUGH the ladies’ and mixed competitions were cancelled due to the stormy weather, a number of events still took place which were as follows:

Seniors’ Four Man Scramble – Tuesday, January 21
Results: 1 Ian McKend, Nick Minter, Steve Sparrow and Graham Stark – 54; 2 Geoff Cox, Dave Huxtable, Tony Morgan and Martin Watkins – 55; 3 Ian Bramley, Duncan Connabeer, John McCarthy and Steve Reed – 56 (c/b).
There was also a ‘Hole-in-One’ from Gary Hooper on the 16th.
Men’s Team of Four with Two scores to Count – Saturday, January 25
Results: 1 Stuart Lobb, Ashley Sutton, Ross Williams and Matt Lawrence – 90pts; 2 Kevin Roach, Steve Pill, Josh Omlo and Steve Omlo – 89pts; 3 David Stevens, Rob Blamey, Craig Sweeney and Dan Osborne – 88pts (c/b).
There was also some magic on the course that day with three ‘Hole-in-Ones’ on the temporary greens with George Hawkey (2), David Stevens (4) and Nigel Hitchens (16) all achieving the feat.

THIS competition was played over 16 holes with the winners being Annie Lobb, Lesley Pocklington and Pat Thom with a nett 52.
Kathryn Bennett . Dawn Emmerson and Gill Tregay were second on 53.

TABLE TENNIS
CORNWALL’S Vets team headed up to Kintbury over the weekend of January 25 and 26 for the second round of matches in their County Championships Division 3B campaign.
Having won two of their three outings in their season opener at Frome on Saturday, December 14, the quartet of Dave Plumb, Mark Cock, Ritchie Bartlett and Shirley Luckhurst defeated Worcestershire 6-4, Berkshire 6-4, Gwent Seconds 8-2 and Gwent 6-4 to cap off a fine weekend’s work in Berkshire.
Dave Plumb led the way with five wins from eight in the singles, which were added to by three victories from Cock and Bartlett.
But it was Luckhurst that was arguably the star performer of the weekend as not only did she record victories in all four of her singles, she was also unbeaten in four matches with both Plumb and Bartlett.
The Cornwall Junior County Closed Championships also took place on Saturday, January 18 at the Cornwall Table Tennis Centre in St Austell.
There was more than double the entries on last year with 32 players entered!
Alfie Tangye, who reached the men’s semi-final on Saturday, January 11 was the heavy favourite to win, and was the star of the day winning the Junior Boys’ title by seeing off Cape Cornwall’s Thomas Trembath in four sets in the final.
The St Austell right-hander also defeated Cornwall Ladies’ champion Erin Bryant by three sets to one in the Under 21 Singles and then combined to win the Junior Knockout doubles title with club-mate Jaydon Lehane.
They beat Cape Cornwall duo Thomas Trembath and Sophie Hooley 3-1 in sets.
The Under 12s went the way of Sophia Warren as she eased past Heath Grace in straihgt game, while the respective Cadet finals saw Logan Hodgson take the Boys title, with Cape Cornwall’s Eva May getting the job done in straight games against team-mate Jessica May.
Erin Bryant unsurprisingly won the Junior Girls title against Sophie Hooley and was a runner-up in the Junior Doubles alongside Hooley as they were beaten by Logan Hodgson and Jaydon Lehane.
The results of the respective finals were as follows: Under 12 Singles: Sophia Warren beat Heath Grace (11-7, 11-9, 11-8); Cadet Boys Singles: Logan Hodgson beat Fynn Fleming (11-5, 11-9, 13-11); Cadet Girls Singles: Eva Curnow beat Jessica May (8-11, 11-5, 11-8, 11-5); Junior Boys Singles: Alfie Tangye beat Thomas Trembath (11-6, 14-12, 8-11, 12-14); Junior Girls Singles: Erin Bryant beat Sophie Hooley (11-8, 11-2, 11-2); Under 21 Singles: Alfie Tangye beat Erin Bryant (11-4, 6-11, 11-7, 15-13); Junior Doubles: Logan Hodgson and Jaydon Lehane beat Erin Bryant and Sophie Hooley (11-8, 8-11, 11-7, 12-10); Junior Knockout: Alfie Tangye and Jaydon Lehane beat Thomas Trembath and Sophie Hooley (3-1 in sets).
