THE Seniors played their monthly Medal for April on Tuesday, April 8 where Peter Bradbury carded a nett 61 to win overall, on countback from Division One winner Mike Hackett.

Two strokes back, Mike Partridge and Steve Arthur were split on countback for second and third with Arthur scoring the lowest gross score of the day with 72.

Division Two winner Len Broad had a nett 62, three ahead of John Hendry in the runners-up spot.

Division Three was won by Stephen Bray with nett 63, two clear of Peter Renowden in second place. Seven twos were recorded.

Carol Fitzhenry and Roma Cook were the worthy winners of the ladies’ Four-Ball Better Ball the next day.

They scored 41 points to win by four from Julie Bradbury and Ann Mee in second. Teresa Phillips and Annette Ewings were third with 35 points.

For the men on Wednesday, the first round of the Summer League beckoned.

Ian Smith got off to a winning start with 43 points on countback from Len Barrett in second place.

Five points back on 38, Dave Sweet, Darren Carhart and Will Mee were tied on countback in third, fourth and fifth with Alan Plaice grabbing the remaining league point with 37 points. Six twos were recorded.

The 2025 series of Greensomes matches took off on Friday, April 11.

Played over 14 holes, the winners were Annette Ewings and her partner Mike Partridge with 30 points, four clear of Jackie and Jim Oliver and Teresa Phillips with Martin Drew in second and third on countback. Teresa and Martin also carded the only two of the day.

The Sunday Stableford on April 13 was in three separate divisions with John Sweet scoring 36 points to winDivision One on countback from Paul Farquhar in second place.

Peter Bradbury secured third with the best of four players on 35 points.

Division Two was secured by Alan Plaice with 40 points, three ahead of Steven Simmons in second and four clear of Len Barrett in third.

The overall top score of the day was the 42 points put together by Geoff Miller to win Division Three. Two points back in second, Tony Shufflebotham was a point clear of Jack Healey in third. Just four twos were recorded.

With the seniors’ competition on Tuesday a total washout, the men's event on Wednesday was a Strokeplay with a difference.

Players scoring a nett birdie or better recorded a ‘plus’, a bogey or worse a ‘minus’. Adding the plusses against the minuses gives a final score.

Peter Bradbury ended up with four up to win by three from Darren Vincent, Paul Farquhar and Michael Rooney in second, third and fourth on countback. Alan Plaice was fifth with a zero score. Three twos were recorded.

The past captains team of Brian Osborne (men’s), Wendy Belcher (ladies), Martin Roseby (seniors) and Jess Prior (juniors) were seventh with 75 points.

IT WAS all square against their North Cornwall visitors as the teams played out a 2-2 draw.

Ladies’ Eddie Holland Cup & Individual Medal – Thursday, April 10

ALTHOUGH Karen Hawkey got the best gross score of 92, it was Wendy Belcher’s 73 that was enough to win by two shots.

Sylvia Rawle and Susie Langley made up the top three.

Seniors’ home match v Carlyon Bay – Friday, April 11

THE local derby between the Saints and their visitors was comfortably won by St Austell, 6.5 to 1.5.
