ST DAY enjoyed their finest hour since promotion over the summer as they thrashed Launceston 6-1 in SWPL Premier West on Saturday.

The Yellows, who secured promotion in the spring, led 3-0 at the break thanks to Phil Cattran, Kyle Marks and Joe Cooper.

A fourth arrived through the impressive Jacob Cleverly before Josh Harris’ 22-yard drive gave the Clarets hope.

But St Day held on easily and added the gloss in injury-time through Josh Margetts and Tyler Oliver.

Elsewhere in the division, while leaders Newquay were easing to a 3-1 victory over Holsworthy thanks to goals from Cameron Turner, Lucas Potts and Louis Price, the chasing pack were also in action over the weekend.

Friday night saw a crowd of 252 at Lantoom Park as Dobwalls welcomed neighbours Liskeard Athletic.

Adam Kenyon put the Dingos in front on 39 minutes, but Macauley Thorp’s penalty ensured the sides went in level.

Liskeard dominated much of the second half and won it late on when the dual-registered Max Gilbert sent a shot into the top corner from just outside of the box.

Kenyon was sent off late on by referee Will Annear, who earned plaudits for his performance, for two yellow cards.

Wendron moved up to second with a 2-0 victory at Millbrook.

Yet again it was in-form strike duo Ryan Reeve and Brodie Kemp that got the goals.

Wadebridge Town bounced back from their defeat to Wendron with a 3-1 success at Bude Town.

James Hamson and Jacob Smale gave the Bridgers a 2-0 lead inside 27 minutes, and although Steve Box lashed in just before the hour, Brad Rowe’s stunning volley from the edge of centre circle in his own half sealed it.

Callington Town’s good week continued as a five-star performance saw them thrash struggling Sticker 5-0.

Harvey Barrett (2), Kevin McCallion (2) and Lee Robinson all scored before the break for Dean Southcott’s men.
