NEWQUAY Thirds’ dream first season in men’s football continues as they won 1-0 against St Teath Reserves to sit 15 points clear of third.
The Peppermints advanced into the semi-finals of the Cornwall Junior Cup at Calstock the week before and won the game via Finley Britcliffe.
St Teath sit six points second-placed Grampound after the hosts eased past bottom side Lifton Reserves 4-2.
Brendan Hutchins helped himself to a hat-trick with Gavin Boon also on target.
Lifton replied through Kieran Gerry and sub Adam Smith.
North Hill remain second bottom following a 4-0 defeat by Kilkhampton Reserves.
Kilk eased to three points via Keith Feltham (2), Archie Furber and an own goal.
St Neot were beaten 3-2 by visiting St Blazey Thirds who launched a superb second half comeback.
Liam Jones (26) and Arran Graham (57) had the villagers 2-0 up at Callington College, but once Sam Parker pulled one back 25 minutes from time, Blazey piled on the pressure to win it with Will Scawn (75) and Joseph Millar (87) getting the goals.
Padstow United won 2-1 at Lostwithiel Reserves to continue their fine first season back.
Goals from Jamie Leigh (10) and Adam Bennett (43) had the town outfit 2-0 up before Josh Cook (84) set up a grandstand finish.
Alfie Freeman hit a hat-trick as Launceston Development eased past Pensilva Seconds 5-2 at the Launceston College Playing Fields.
It gave the Clarets’ third string a fifth win from ten league matches in their debut campaign.
Freeman opened the scoring 22 minutes in which was added to by Ben Farrar nine minutes later.
George Matthews (42) reduced the arrears just before the break but Freeman (52) and James Hopcraft (64) soon extended the lead to 4-1.
Zak Mitchell got Pensilva back in it before Freeman converted his hat-trick 16 minutes from time.
