MOUSEHOLE built on their draw at Larkhall Athletic a week earlier by thrashing Didcot Town 5-0 at Trungle Parc on Saturday in Southern League Division One South.

Mark Goldsworthy earned the Seagulls a point in Bath and the Cornishmen took that momentum into the game.

Tim Nixon opened the scoring on 28 minutes before Tallan Mitchell doubled the lead five minutes later.

Mitchell grabbed a third four minutes before the break, and when Jordan Hackett added the fourth just seven minutes after the restart it was game over.

Flying winger Torin Ntege rounded off the scoring three minutes before the end in front of a 203 crowd as Jake Ash’s men remain a point outside the play-off places.

Not too far away at Helston, the Blues were held to a 1-1 draw by fellow play-off hopefuls Bashley.

During a week where work to improve the facilities got underway, it was their Hampshire opponents that struck first through Scott Bungay on 31 minutes.

Jacob Smith has been a constant source of goals for Matt Cusack’s side so far this season, and the young midfielder netted again within 60 seconds of the restart from Reece Thomson’s pass.

Both sides had chance to win it as Helston dropped to fifth.

That was because Evesham United eased past the third Cornish side in the division – Falmouth Town.

Falmouth to Worcestershire is near five-hour trip each way, and they were behind in the tenth minute with Amer Awadh the scorer.

Visiting keeper Morgan Coxhead’s own goal doubled the lead midway through the half, and any hopes of a classic Town comeback were ended by Levi Steele’s double on 51 and 67 minutes.

Falmouth will seek to bounce back on Saturday when they welcome Westbury United to Bickland Park, while both Helston and Mousehole are on their travels at Larkhall Athletic and Shaftesbury respectively.
