FALMOUTH Town continued their superb run of form in Southern League Division One South last week as they made it four wins on the spin.
After Rubin Wilson’s 71st minute goal was enough for a 1-0 success at Willand Rovers on New Year’s Day, they then put Didcot Town to the sword at Bickland Park on Saturday.
Wilson made it two in two in the 23rd minute although the Oxfordshire visitors levelled within four minutes through Daniel Warre.
Olly Walker restored Falmouth’s advantage just before the break and they added late goals from Jared Sims (83) and Luke Barner (90).
After the eagerly-anticipated New Year’s Day clash between Mousehole and Helston Athletic was postponed, the Blues were again denied by the weather on Saturday for their home date with Cindeford Town.
Mousehole made the long trip up to Worcestershire and won 3-2 thanks to Hayden Turner’s goal six minutes from time.
Dion Molyneux’s own goal put the Cornishmen ahead on eight minutes, and when Tim Nixon added a second 15 minutes later, things were looking rosy.
But the Worcestershire side pulled one back on the half hour via Sam Clark which was added to by Jack Watts’ penalty 15 minutes into the second half.
But Turner’s late intervention kept Mousehole’s play-off hopes going nicely.
Two leagues down in SWPL Premier West, Falmouth’s Cornwall Senior Cup quarter-final opponents Bude Town won 4-2 at Bodmin Town.
The Seasiders led 3-0 just after the hour thanks to Dylan Morgan and Aaron White (2), before Caleb Tallis and Harry Probyn made it 3-2.
But Jake Woodland’s late goal ensured the points went back to the seaside.
Millbrook gave themselves hope as they beat Holsworthy 2-1 courtesy of Ben Waters’ debut double, while Truro City Reserves’ fine season continued as they won 3-1 at Launceston. Their scorers were Mykey Davies, Ben Shaw and Alfie Flack.
